Air Traffic Control: unanswered and unasked questions
I have some questions regarding air traffic control and the events of today.
1. The NBC news has shown what appears to be a video recording of a graphic flight progress, with time stamps, over the Northeastern corridor. This dramatically shows the change of course of all 4 hijacked aircraft.
I assume that ATC would immediately, upon visual confirmation of a radical change of course, attempt to contact the aircraft, no? Even, as has been reported/theorized on the news tonight, the transponders were disconnected, would ATC then not become concerned as to the reason for change of course, or is ATC oblivious to
U-turns by 4 jumbo jets at approximately the same time.
2. The reports state that the impact of the first tower crash was followed by the second tower crash, by 18 MINUTES.
I was watching after the first tower crash, and saw the second live on TV. After the first tower impact, would not ATC be checking the status of the lost aircraft, and THEN note the status of the other 3 off course aircraft, one of which was heading for the same NYC destination as the terminus of the first flight?
3.The reports showed that the first tower crash was 8:45am, and the Pentagon crash was 9:45am, both EDT.
How is it possible the ATC could not be alert to the off course aircraft, AFTER BOTH TOWERS had been struck?
4. How is it that military aircraft were not on alert BETWEEN the last tower craft and the Pentagon crash, approximately ONE HALF HOUR after the second tower impact?
5. Now we are in DEFCON Delta, the highest alert status, as reported.
6. How about all the reported cellphone calls initiated by passengers on board the hijacked aircraft prior to impact?
Did not anyone of the relatives/friends who recieved these calls reported the hijacks make a call to authorities, and what response was given. Barbara Olsen, Ted Olsen's late wife made a call from aboard one of the aircraft, reporting the hijacking. This call may have been made, after the twin towers were impacted. What happened to her report, before the Pentagon crash? She was the wife of the Controller General.
7. These circumstances bring up all kinds of technical questions, but the bottom line is, when a commercial jet/jets go off course so radically, and communication with the craft is disabled, what does Air Traffic Control do, eat donuts.
This is obscene negligence, in my view.
No one in the major media is even ASKING these questions.
What the hell is going on here, and why would government clear commercial aircraft for take off tomorrow at midday, business as usual, under these circumstances?
I would appreciate some insight from someone with commercial/flight experience.
