i am hearing institutions are covering ---and i suspect shorting may be temporarily banned( and i am sure many as such as i,for emotional reasons, couldn't short or put now due to what has happened). But AS,this actually makes me ill-at-ease.If at some point a sell off commences and there be no shorts positions,we are in a touchy position as we will have no shorts to provide what the market has always needed, the support, the liquidity that short covering provides.
AS, as have often tried to explain to those that think that shorting is some destructive, evil force simply don't understand the marketplace and that shorting under normal conditions is a friend and NOT a foe in sell-offs.As shorts cover all the time, and are entering the market as BUYS.
far too many people have never been able to connect the dots and realize short covering is what stops free-fall.
If we enter at some point down the road,a sell-off,and there be no shorts beneath to cover, what then??? Max
