I doubt if the students that went to American colleges were or are a problem. They probably came from wealthy families, and have a different perspective on the world than the stereo-type, a more reasonable one, but I don't really know. It seems to me that the problems come from the undereducated, the poor, & at the direction of the religious fanatics.
They seem to be the tools and cannon fodder for the ones that want the power.
