European markets are now advancing strongly. Telecommunications stocks are moving higher, for example Vodafone up over 6%. EXTRA DAX up over 100. STOXX up 53. FTSE up 93, CAC40 up 66.

All European markets now up sharply.

Hedge funds and others holding short are said to be taking profits. The patriotic and probably self-interested thing to do given the circumstances.

Goodbye . . and time for me to sleep for a few hours.

Rob S, Very good observations.
Also hearing that corporations buyback restrictions may be lifted so that stock repurchases are also allowed at the beginning and end of the trading day. (I believe it is the first and last half hour of trading).

If I had to guess, I would say that the market will go up on the first day of trading. That sense seems to be developing based upon what I have watched on TV.
I also think that shorts will cover and may do so on a large scale--all signs point to it, imho.

If the market does go higher on the first day of trading, it will also be a strike back at terrorism in one sense.
