Not sure what the writer means by "the truth." We don't expect the intelligence community to tell us everything. Unfortunately, there are factions within the intelligence community. I think the US intelligence community as a whole has the best interests of the United States at heart, but their perception of where those best interests lie differs from faction to faction.

I would be very surprised if today's attacks were the last. Bombing the World Trade Center is spectacular, but very little of strategic importance was damaged. Even attacking the Pentagon accomplished little - the US Chain of Command is decentralized, and redundant. But I don't think like a terrorist.

I told my husband today what I would attack if I wanted to incapacitate the United States - sorry, I won't repeat my thoughts in public - and he told me that I was thinking like a soldier, not like a terrorist.

We shall see in the future - perhaps soon - whether the attacks were meant to entertain children and other gullible people, or whether there is any real strategic thought involved.
