Taliban calls Bin Laden extradition talk premature

SLAMABAD: Afghanistan's ruling Taliban movement said on Wednesday it was premature to talk about extraditing Saudi dissident Osama bin Laden after Tuesday's terror attacks in the United States.

"It is premature," Taliban ambassador to Pakistan, Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef, told Reuters when asked if his radical Islamic movement would consider bin Laden's expulsion.

He repeated the standard Taliban response to previous US requests for bin Laden's expulsion -- that it could be considered if proof were presented against the dissident.

"If any evidence is presented to us, we will study it," Zaeef said.
