Tommasso You are probably right. My Dad was very seriously injured at Pearl Harbor and luckily found by a cleanup detail unconscious, buried in rubble the day after the attack on December 8th. After 10 months convalescence state-side, he came back as an avenging airborne angel.

Here our core financial and military institutions were attacked by the Arab guerillas which initially appear to be unaligned with any government (They were after but failed to get the Capitol or White House-Perhaps a brave pilot on the United Flight that crashed near Pittsburgh saved it?). IMO the best response here is not mass retaliation against a guerilla army but to bolster INS/Border Patrol/Customs Service, and rebuild our on-the-ground spy capabilities in the Middle East (literally everything is for sale for a price in the Middle East with alcohol being a valuable trading commodity) and free up our CIA agents to fight a "dirty war" for the first time since 1979.

The world faces two great issues this century- first is fresh water shortages (For e.g., the great enemy of the Arab fundamentlists are the Turks since Turkey with its system of dams control the bulk of water supplies that flow into the Arab World.)- the second is Islamic Fundamentalism (which is just Nazi fascism repackaged this time in religious rather than political trappings).

Water tasks engineering responses. Fighting fascist guerillas calls for freeing up our intelligence services- not mass bombing runs IMO (unless a government turns up involved)Recruit our friends in Jordan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia to provide information and then go in and root out the rats and send them to hell one-by-one.

Do the dirty work quietly and behind the scenes....Not flashy but very effective.

For e.g., look at all of the information on the Arab bombers that has been already developed by this morning. My guess is that their origin has already been pinpointed.

Market-wise just remember- After an initial dip any military crisis usually bolsters markets....That will likely be true of both oil & gold as commodities....
