What is likely: the Administration will hit Bin Laden's base hard, and seek to destroy his infrastructure. Then they will stop. They will not try to overthrow the Taliban, but will treat them in a high- handed way, weaken them, and step up support for the opposition.

Cyberken: then the answer is to eventually fight a winnable win, in which the offending nations are subjugated. It will not be pretty, it will require more will than we had in Vietnam (we may be able to muster this after an attack on our own shores), but the alternative is US surrender..
