The tough part is that we, as Americans, have a moral will which makes it difficult to accept the collateral consequences that this analogy suggests. Precisely the point. That's why when people scream WAR! I want to ask them, "What's the objective? What defines winning?" To whom do we declare WAR on? Terrorism? bin Laden? Afghanistan? The last two times we got into conflict without defined objectives, we got our ass handed to us. (Viet Nam & Korea)
