As I recall we didn't care too much when 500,000 Rwandans were hacked to death. Guess they didn't have strong enough backing in our government. You are correct, it's all relative.

Brian, don't get me wrong. I certainly don't want the cycle of violence to continue. But if I were a Palestinian right now, I would be quaking in my shoes instead of celebrating in the streets, no matter how tough my situation was. Those idiots who did celebrate performed almost as great a disservice to their fellow Palestinians as those cowardly terrorists. They just turned the court of world opinion against them, unlike before where the world was willing to hear their cries of their suffering underneath the Israeli occupation.

<10,000 to 20,000 people probably died today. An awful number of innocent lives taken. But every day 24,000 people stave to death. Why don't I hear people up in arms over that?>

Maybe it's because those who starve to death happen in some remote area that they could hardly relate to, while the NYC and DC terrorist attacks happened in major metropolitan areas. The whole civilized world must be thinking, "This could easily happen to me or someone I know."

P.S. - Now that I've had a chance to sleep it off, my own rage has subsided somewhat. I can only pray now that the cycle of violence can quickly come to an end and that we can get back to our regular lives.
