If Bush Sr. had made the push into Baghdad, he would have lost the HUGE PROFIT CENTER that the US has in patrolling Iraq.

As I recall as the Gulf War was coming to an end there were factions that wanted to march to Baghdad to get Saddam and there were others that felt he had been seriously reduced in ability to fight in the future.
There were those who were pleased that our loss of life was miniscule. There was a feeling generally that it wasn't worth losing anymore American lives when we had defeated him so soundly.
Now in hindsight you say we should have marched to Baghdad and got ourselves into a guerilla type street to street battle for Saddam. I disagree and feel it would have resulted in much more loss of life to our military.

So we can all Monday Morning Quarterback decisions made years ago but to criticize Bush Sr. for that decision now and say he would have lost his huge "profit Center" is beyond any rational reasoning.

Steve,

If Bush Sr. had made the push into Baghdad, he would have lost the HUGE PROFIT CENTER that the US has in patrolling IRAQ. Kuwait and Saudi pay the US on a daily rate basis.

That is what you said and I thought you meant he should have pushed into Baghdad . Sorry for the misinterpretation of the above comment by you. So therefore both of us feel Bush Sr. did the right thing at that time in history.
