2 issues Challo:

(1) The plane as an flying personnel wagon carrying 50, 100, 150, 200 people (or more) each time.....

and (2) The plane as a flying bomb that can kill thousands if landed at the wrong place, at the wrong time.

These are/were always the 2 biggest dangers of a craft....

Because of (2), the pilot should never leave the cockpit, no matter what's going on behind him.

I submit that you thinking only about (1), which (and I say this with a sense of gravity) is the lesser worry, IMO.

All this seems new to us because we never discuss, but the airlines, the experts, have known this for many years.
