Maybe the solution is not in the cockpit, but in a general worldwide offensive against all terrorists organizations. here will be a fine line there between "freedom of speech" and groups engaged in sedition, but anytime someone openly voices his intention to kill innocent people, or incites and funds other people to engage in the same, we may want to go after them, or "declare open season" on such groups, not after they did their misdeed, but before they can put at risk innocent people. Not much different than the current Israeli policy of "targetted killing" of known terrorists on their way to commit such acts, or even in their homes building those bombs.

You're getting too hi-tech here. Replace the flimsy cardboard wall and door between the cockpit and the cabin with a 2in steel, locked barrier. Then, let the pilots carry guns in the cockpit.
