eco, yes, Hawking comments are valid. A rogue machine intelligence would be a formidable foee to mankind. Right now we have machines that can excell at all aspects of human activity, such as memory, calculation and in time the interlinkedness of content assicoative memory will bring creativity to the machine world. Already they have invention software that kicks out new things to patent. There have been a number of chilling film scenarios where future machine dominated soccieties eliminate humans. Of course in the real world the machines will not miss their shots, etc. Bill
