RE:"My concern is how did a flight crew surrender a plane to assailants with knives? The door to the cabin should have been locked and opened for no reason. Will this change FAA rules regarding this? Shouldn't the pilots be armed and locked in their cabin before any passengers are let on board"

1. They put a knife to a flight attendants throat or a gun to her head and said open the door...
2. They reassured to pilot that if he cooperated no one would be hurt. Typically hickjackings don't result in the loss of a plane. The pilot had no reason to believe they were going to run the planes into the world trade center or pentagon. At the last minute the highjackers took control of the plane. They had enough training to to that.
Any private pilot with a little microsoft flight simulator time on a 757 could do it.

RE:"A group of men can subdue someone with a knife. Yes, someone will get stabbed and possibly killed, but a knife can only be used on one person at a time. We live in a society where men have been castrated and don't act as the protectors any more"

As I stated above...the crew and passengers probably never dreamed they were going to plow in to the WTC until the last few minutes.
I suspect we will be flying with US Marshalls soon.

On one plane the flight attendants were stabbed and killed. The captain came out of the cockpit in response.

And my other concern is, where were the MEN?

A group of men can subdue someone with a knife. Yes, someone will get stabbed and possibly killed, but a knife can only be used on one person at a time. We live in a society where men have been castrated and don't act as the protectors any more.

Actually, on another plane, the passengers were told that the hijackers had a bomb. I suspect most people thought it was a hijacking and not a suicide mission.
