Reading that in the full context of the message, it appears short sells are limited to new accounts. But I'm just guessing here.

Effective immediately and until further notice the granting of new margin facilities, including all securities lending, is suspended. Until further notice new
accounts will be opened as cash accounts only and short sales and uncovered option trades are prohibitted.


Anyhow, I think it is a pathetic attempt to artifically prop up an over valued market. I've red A.S. posting that it is unpatriotic to be shorting stocks right now. I think he is wrong. However, seeing gasoline prices ramped up in the midwest makes my blood boil. Those are the true vultures.
