First business casualty appears to be Midway airlines. Probably a smart move on the part of management.

Midway Suspends All Future Flights
RALEIGH-DURHAM (Reuters) - Midway Airlines, which was operating under bankruptcy protection, on Wednesday said it has suspended all future flight operations, and that 1,700 employees would lose their jobs, effective immediately.

Holders of tickets for future travel on Midway will be entitled to refunds or recommendation on other air carriers, the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina-based airline said in a statement. Midway said it will attempt to contact all ticket holders to make appropriate arrangements.

Effective immediately, Midway said it will begin returning aircraft to its lessors and will solicit purchasers for the various assets it owns or controls.

Midway said it anticipates paying all obligations incurred following its Chapter 11 filing and proposing a reorganization plan to deal with all obligations which arose prior to the bankruptcy filing.
