"less than 3% in the UK go to church and about 5% in Canada and perhaps 6-7% in the USA"

Your numbers are way off, unless there has been a big drop in the past few years.

Bill:

"Many people do not believe, the majority as far as I can see from Church attendance and actions. Sure they say they believe, but they do not worship=non believer.
less than 3% in the UK go to church and about 5% in Canada and perhaps 6-7% in the USA,"

There is a high correlation between the rate of decline in church attendees and the rate of decline in the number of family farms over the past 50 years. At the same time, there probably has been an increase in the amount of farm produce consumed and, if the analogy can be extrapolated, an increase in the amount of religious/spiritual food being consumed. It's just that the family farm and the church edifice, although still functional units in society, are no longer the main functional unit suppliers to their respective markets.

"but ask the people and they all say yes they are believers. that shows how powerful the coercive social pressure is on people who wish to appear PC."

It may be evident of exactly the opposite as a growing number of people may now no longer feel compelled to "belong" to any one religious body for the very reason that they do not want to be coerced into any specific "social/religious" belief system...Perhaps it is a sign of religious evolution whereby the individual has now been empowered in religious decision making!
