Some more contact points to help if you want to do something.

We can donate on-line at this URL:

redcross.org

From the FEMA web site, with their recommendations:

Washington, D.C. September 11, 2001 -- The Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA) is urging those interested in
helping victims of the apparent terrorist events to give
blood or cash donations. Those interested in giving blood
should call the American Red Cross blood donation hotline,
at 1-800-448-3543. The American Red Cross can accept cash
donations through 1-800-HELP NOW, and the Salvation Army can
accept financial contributions through 1-800-SAL ARMY.
Persons who wish to donate their services should contact
their local American Red Cross office.

Excellent idea! I'm pledging 10% of whatever profits I make on the day the market reopens, to disaster relief for NYC (either the Red Cross or whatever widow's and orphans fund the NY Fire Department has...I'll have to research that a bit)
