IMO the root cause of terrorism is poverty, joblessness, and hunger which breeds resentfulness of others who are more fortunate and powerful. While I can understand the justifiable urge by many to punish the perpetrators and their cohorts for these heinous acts, I know in my heart that the only true way of preventing terrorism is to assist in countering the misery that breeds it. My solution would be to forget bullets and to move directly on to the Marshall Plan stage. washingtonpost.com
