I don't know about assisted suicides or mercy killings statistics. The accidental or unintentional deaths are another 1500 to 2000. About half the suicides are committed using a firearm. I think it likely they will just use another means in this case. I don't want to deny store keepers in high risk areas the ability to protect themselves. There's quite a bit of violence directed against Korean shopkeepers in cities. Secondarily, there are many people living in isolated areas or again in high risk urban/suburban areas that may need firearms.
