This was just on the radio. It is about the flight from Newark that was, they think, going to go for the White House.

A passenger named Joseph Burnett called his wife from his cell phone. The tape message has been released. He said, approximately (I heard this on the radio), "Honey, we have been hijacked. We know we're going to die, but three of us are going to do something about it. I love you."

They brought the plane down, clearly.

I'm crying.

Suffice to say, that the average person walking into a sophisticated jet cockpit would have a hard time identifying many (if any) of the amazing number of switches, screens, and gauges therein. I sincerely doubt finding and flipping the transponder switch is something that most people would be capable of (or think of) without prior planning.
