Yes, obviously the scale of death was far, far beyond anything in the Middle East. But if you think that what's been going on the Middle East can be described by rocks and occasional sniper, you have been badly mislead by the coverage.

The Palestinians are waging a low level guerilla war. Shooting incidents (generally by groups of militia) have been averaging 50 per day -- that's not occasional. There have been literally hundreds of bombings and bombing attempts -- the news only covers the big 'successes'. The rock throwing incidents have greatly diminished since the first few months of the intifada, which is now almost entirely military in nature.
