Goldie Sucks says sell

Goldman Sachs sounded a note of caution in a research note issued Wednesday, saying that the air attacks in the U.S. had turned its European equities strategy ``on its head'' as they would deepen the economic downturn.

``The attacks in the United States are likely to have an adverse impact on consumer and business confidence, deepening the economic downturn and postponing recovery,'' Goldman said.

The investment bank said its strategy of building a portfolio more sensitive to a market recovery was no longer appropriate.

It said sectors most likely to be most adversely affected in the wake of the attacks on New York and Washington included airlines, retailers, hotels, and leisure industries.
