I think many North Americans are thinking back to the days of the Cold Bar/Reagan Era with pride and great sentiment, as the United States was so strong and mighty. I believe the resolve of the American people has been put back on track, and they will do whatever it takes to get back there in terms of strength. As they say, the best defense is a good offence.
