JC, I think the turning of the other cheek was for fellow tribesmen and offshoots of the tribe and did not refer to ttotally outside trribes. This in general would cuto down strife amongst the loose group of related tribes...which is good for their growth. Deep aggression was reserved for outsiders.

that means do not kill without a cause. The problem is that some people may disagree on the cause.

here we come again to the point of interpretation of the cause or a statement that was made 2K years ago.

The only true major difference, IMHO, in philosophy of Judaism vs Christianity is that Judaism calls Jews as chosen while Christianity expands that notion to Christians.

Judaism is not calling for saving or converting of other people and very tolerant toward other religions. A different religion is not a cause to deny the rights.
