Karen, here is a summary of the " bomb was not necessary point of view" Message 16341516 . It's easy for the top brass to say no to the bomb because they weren't in the jungle fighting these fanatics. A few Japanese soldiers stayed in hiding until as late as 1975 +/- thinking the war was still on! Mike
