CIA Intelligence on Attacks Points to Bin Laden, Congress Told

Washington, Sept. 12 (Bloomberg) -- A Central Intelligence Agency official told members of the House of Representatives the agency suspects a network of Islamic fundamentalists headed by Osama Bin Laden was behind yesterday's terrorist attacks, lawmakers said.

John McLaughlin, deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency, described the workings of different cells within Bin Laden's network that the U.S. has been tracking. However, several lawmakers said the CIA provided little information that hasn't already been reported.

``It is generally known that Osama Bin Laden's name continues to come to the forefront,'' Representative David Dreier, a California Republican said.

The information was provided to members of the House of Representatives in an unusual private meeting of all members held in the House floor.

``We have comprehensive intelligence data, that when analyzed will lead us to where we need to go,'' Representative Sherwood Boehlert, a New York Republican, said.

Still, the evidence isn't yet conclusive. ``I don't think that they have a sufficient degree of certainty at this point.''

The bigger planes have a lot more fuel. The steel melted. On the other hand, thank God those who planned the building actually built them so they would collapse inward. In spite of the immense tragedy, countless lives were saved by that foresight.
