That will give everyone time to regroup. It reminds me of Roosevelt closing the banks during the Great Depression - bank failures were happening in chain reactions. The breather allowed everyone to regroup and stopped the chain reaction.

new accounts only -- limits extension of additional margin. Worthless and discriminatory, IMO. One customer opened an account two years ago can do these things and a new customer can't? I'll never use Schwab.

Short sellers simply do not drive markets down -- where do people get such ideas?
