Gee, if you think stocks are headed straight up, you should SUPPORT shorting. After all, the evil shorts will be burned by their own greed once again, right?

Much of what little buying has occurred the last 2-3 weeks has been short covering. Shorts provide liquidity (sometimes the ONLY liquidity) when the market needs it the most. I wouldn't add to shorts here or put on new positions, BTW, but your incessant ranting about "traitorous shorts" on multiple threads lies somewhere between comical and pathetic.

Shorts often unmask clear cases of outright fraud and deception in the equity markets. Rocker Partners did it with Lernout and Hauspie, and Asensio did it with Research Frontiers. Carl Icahn did it with AREM and is doing it again with CNC. Shorts stood like a beacon of truth at the top of the mania, when the media and virtually all of the financial services industry was screaming "BUY" at the top of their lungs.

So I take exception to anyone who bashes short-sellers at this point in the market. If anyone has been traitorous in the last 3 years, it's been the corporate officers, investment "advisors", analysts and talking heads who through greed, avarice and stupidity destroyed the personal finances of tens of millions of Americans, many irrepairably. That has weakened the financial infrastructure of America FAR more than any short could.

BTW your personal attack on Velociraptor was uncalled for and reprehensible. Velo is neither a bull nor a bear, he is a trader and calls it as he sees it. If you disagree, then take the other side of the trade, but for God's sake, quit whining about it.

What's the deal on gas gouging? I filled up my tank about an hour after the bombing - was worried about supplies of gasoline.
