Bob- I have no idea what you are posting, and I don't think you do either.

The pilots probably did what they were supposed to do, based on past experiences, if they were still alive.
In hindsight it turns out that they made a mistake. Do you really think that they would have allowed this all to happen if they knew the real score? Remember a lot of pilots are combat experienced, they are not cowards..
Instead of telling us about what your friend did, can you tell us what you did, if you were ever in a life threatening situation?
Until you're faced with the situation, and every situation is different, you don't know how you'd react.
From the reports the passengers were fooled, with the exception of the PA plane, where one of them had a cell phone call that wised him up to what the story was. At that point they took action, They are truly heros.
I think they should be awarded medals for what they did.
Stop making up fantacies about woulda coulda shoulda.
It's inappropriate. It's unfair. They are dead and cannot defend themselves.
I know what I would have had I been there & had I KNOWN what the real situation was, I have already proven to myself that I can act under fire.
But not knowing, and thinking that this was just another hijacking, I would have been irresponsible to try and take over the hijackers, it would jeapordize both the plane and the other passengers. What right would I have to do that?
Based on the past, the proper reaction was to do nothing, and do what the hijackers tell you, and when you get to Cuba, everyone departs and has a bunch of cuba libres and has a great story to tell the grandkids.
