The model of the attack is a page out of Mossad the book. The perpetrators have studied the Mossad tactics ad techniques and applied in full.

I would start an investigation asking the Mossad how would you plan such attack, then based on what they say I would hunt for the perpetrators.

To support 50 people in the US for a year, give them flight lessons and fly them around etc. we are talking 1-2million USD. Not so hard for Bin-Laden to do himself I would think- though exactly how much money he has isn't clear, his father is very wealthy but he got thrown out of Saudi Arabia for criticizing the Royal Family and government.
