And so your "enlightened" solution to end mass murders such as this, is?

Thats where we need the genius of the people !.

remeber India won its independance not by raising a gun against a gun but by turning the other cheek. And even tho the atrocities committed by the british, the shooting down of unarmed men, women and children by cannons (and they thought they were civilized, altho they did transfer the officer who gave orders to shoot) have not been forgotten, they have been forgiven by most Indians.

The answer is that there is no easy answer! But we have seen time and again that more violence will only add to the cycle we have already seen, and I am sure few would want to revisit what we have been through. Why do people think that bringing similar suffering on people on the other side of the world will cease our suffering? An injustice has occurred, but let us not fool ourselves into believing that another injustice is the solution! Bring the people who orchestrated this to trial before the world if we must; but let us not ruin ourselves with their own brand of "justice."

Probably 20,000 people died on Tuesday. 24,000 die daily from starvavation and yet there are no people up in arms over that(on a daily basis). People around the world suffer injustcice every day; if we were to see every family of these people use your solution, we would have Billions of people at war right now. We could not operate as a race. Visceral gut reactions should be checked at times like this, since reasoning and compassion have no place where visceral emotions are concerned.

BTW, I have a friend whose cousin was killed in NYC and my sister's neighbor sister was on one of the planes which went into the Towers. I believe that nearly everyone will be affected by this somehow.
