hi PoetTrader,

I for one shall only liquidate what is necessary to defer financial ruin, but I refuse to sell everything at the open, which was my panicked thinking in the beginning

i can understand your thinking. my guess is the first day or two is not going to be too bad. i expect the Plunge Protection Team to be working overtime to keep equity prices propped up. (that is just a wild guess by the way.) the PPT's efforts may work in the short run, but over time, i think the weight of reality will weigh back on the market.

equities seemed so overpriced to me that i completely liquidated my accts. in july. an event such as yesterday's is not going to bring my money back into the market unless there is a 40% plunge, which i don't expect for at least a couple more years.

but good luck with your strategy.
