Let me humanize it for you. The victims aren't publicly traded. Your suggestion that they are shortable suggests that they're some sort of commodity, who can be used towards an economic agenda. Not far from being used for a political/religious agenda. Perhaps this is a good place to dispense with using this tragedy to separate longs and shorts with the paintbrush of patriotism and morals. You owe the victims that much, at least. Oh wait—you were "unifying". Nevermind.
