I read a version of Nostradamus in the 80's that has parallels to current events. It had a terrorist act in NYC, something like an earthquake or an atomic bomb in 1997. It had a charismatic leader uniting the Islamic world. It indicated that the US would be aligned with Russia in WWIII against Islam and China. It indicated that the US did not get involved in the war until Israel's air force was crippled and the Islamic forces had advanced into Europe. In the end the US wins, nuclear weapons get used, and a new millenium of peace starts. I don't remember the title of the book.
