Nah, why bother to find out who did it? Just bomb at random until the hijackings have stopped. Given sufficient time and devastation you are bound to get the right ones.

It strikes me that we could do exactly what the hijackers do in the same measure, tit for tat where they come from. It has been shown in some situations to be tbe best overall strategy. I don't know what game theory predicts.

The strange thing is what supports the whole terrorist strategy is American social and industrial infrastructure itself. If they wished to carry out these kind of tactics in Arabic society they would have a much harder time. although Algeria is suffering this sort of thing on a more frequent but smaller scale. We would have to become some kind of Stalinist state that harassed and marginalized whole groups of people in order to reduce the likelihood of terrorism entirely.

Air travel will be getting some gruesome from now on. It is already intolerable as it is. You can kiss the friendly skys good bye for a good while. One thing is a plus, it cuts down on the need for in flight adventure movies.
