Very well put, Marsh. There is no doubt about the ways guys like Bin Laden and Hezbollah operate; they create bogeymen before eyes vulnerable to deceit. They are no different than the Nazi leadership, Jim Jones, and others whose real goal is not to secure sainthood for the adherents, but power for themselves. Such 'leaders' are liars, conmen and sociopaths.
