"...there are innocent Afghani's, both in that country and certainly within ours, who deserve mercy."

God will decide who is deserving of mercy, leave it in his capable hands to sort out.

This anti-Muslim activity must be put down immediately by the authorities. It is an insult to the ideals our country was founded upon....

I do not and will not support violence against Moslems or their mosques in this country. American law runs here and they are entitled to the protections of that law. If they break it, they should take consequences like anyone else. If they do not, they should be protected by it.

First, Iam surprised that you appear to be positioning yourself as someone who is not a humanist.
By "humanist" I meant those who apparently are arguing that the US should take no retaliatory action or other action that might result in the deaths of people unconnected to this heinous crime.

Years ago, the US asked the Taliban to turn over bin Laden; he is wanted for the embassy bombings. They refused. Now something like 20,000 of our people are dead. They should take the consequences of providing safe haven to a homicidal maniac.

In WWII, millions of innocent Germans and Japanese were killed by the Allies. To avoid that, should we have left the Nazis in possession of continental Europe and the Japanese in possession of the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere? Was it wrong to stop the Holocaust?

All that is required for evil to triumph is that good men remain silent.
