I agree. For me, the singular ineffectiveness of our policy with respect to Iraq doesn't bode well at all for our treatment of this new, extremely serious, problem.

Bin Laden is just part of a worldwide network, we absolutely have to get our hands on some of these people - alive - and trace the network back. Carpet bombing Afghanistan will do little real good, not even in the short term.

This might be a window of opportunity to take a look at some of these off shore bank accounts in the fiscal paradises floating around out there. I'd put some diplomatic pressure on Switzerland, Luxembourg, and a few other places in Europe as well to do a bit of discreet investigation. There are fortunes in drug and arms money in these accounts that are being used to finance operations like we've just been the target of.

But a lot of this one has taken place under our noses...
