The struggle for Kuwait was a War. Initially, the outcome was in doubt. In the early days of that war, a massive sustained attack by Iraq would have resulted in the taking of Saudi Arabia and large, probably total, losses to the lightly armed US forces on the ground. The war was fought in two phases. First the defensive action, air attacks and military build up and then the all out military assault to wrest control of Kuwait from Iraq. The devastation and human carnage inflicted was enormous. It was a War. The US strategy was well planned and executed and victory was achieved within months instead of years. This fact does not relegate the conflict to something less than the full scale warfare it was....
