On the other hand, there will be collateral damage, and if the individual stories of people who supported terrorism thinking it was a trendy or nice thing to do may turn out to be sad, even tragic. If these citizens are prosecuted under an antiterrorism law, lose their property and get to spend time in a maximum security prison that will just be the cost of doing business. For the non-citizens who support terrorists financially a quick and speedy deportation to some place like 50 yards offshore of Tripoli would work for me. This a war, not one we started but one we need to finish. A rule of war is that the innocent suffer. We have no business granting the world at large due process and equal protection--those are the rewards of citizenship. And in these times, we may need to curtail our own enjoyment of certain things we've come to view as "inalienable" rights. Make no mistake, this is our survival we are talking about now, there's no way to simply call a halt, count the bodies and say, okay, we'll all do some behavior modification and things will be fine. Everything has changed. As for the Delta Force or the Seals doing the job, I'm sorry, I don't think so. We've entered into a shadowy world where it will not be shoot first, explain later, but rather pay Khalil to slit first, and explain never. As for Congress (a collection of boobs, imho)--they will have to be treated like Michael treats Kay at the end of the Godfather, right after he's taken out the 5 families and Moe Green in Vegas and Connie's husband, Carlo. Kay asks if it's true (what Connie is screaming about), and Michael says never ask me about my business. But just this once he's going to answer her. He lies directly and coldly and the movie closes with Michael's associates kissing his ring and calling him "Godfather." The heads of the CIA and the FBI will have closed sessions with 2-3 members of our government and tell them, "don't ask us about our business."
