mm. . .what you say about FDR is true, except, while history barely mentions it, you know about it. . . I know about it. . . everyone knows about it. I still say, though, that the point is moot.

Worldwide news gathering is a different beast now than it was then. You have reporters with videocameras and videophones everywhere. You have satellite and internet (and, of course, cb radio!) and cell phones and on and on. The rules have changed.

As a digression, I have to say that every time a reporter asks the President or press secretary "tell us about your intelligence sources" or the like, I just want to scream. What's going through that reporter's mind? "Ahhh, THIS time they'll answer for sure!"
