jjayxxx; True... for a few thousand years, however I think you understood "The beginning of the problem" as being a modern day problem that began on May 14, 1948 when the United Nations divided Palestine to create a independent Jewish State (Israel) in Palestine. There has been nothing but bloodshed ever since. Regardless if this was the right thing to do or not is not the question, but it was the beginning of the problem, and in addition the Arab nations continue to look at the USA as financial and military supporters of Israel.
