Is it known and established that PGP is used by terrorist
groups, or is this speculation?

If I were a terrorist acting against the US I doubt that
I would choose a US software company's product.

Wouldn't that be a bad tactical risk?

Namaste!

Jim

Hi Bruce - I think it is dangerous to start a who-is-to-blame campaign at this juncture. I mean, allegedly, the said terrorist grp boosts some of the most adv telecom equipment [I read that a few mos ago] etc etc. I mean, hi-tech is the moral equivalence of a genie-in-the-bottle. It is out, now what?

Evidently, according to a piece of news I read [don't remember where] this morning, Echelon has intercepted something, but there was probably more than PGP, if it was used, involved to evade the actual decoding [my guess.]

I mean, hindsight is 20/20. People on the 1st 3 planes were likely to believe the hyjacking was a hostile taking operation and thus did not stop the planes from carrying out their ultimate goals, so do we fault them too? Obviously not [just to be clear about my rhetorical question.]

Instead of pointing our fingers at NETA, or any other entity, for that matter, it is much more effective to cut off the head of the monster!

best, Bosco

You can thank pgp.com for providing the free encryption software to the terrorists of the world. PGP refuses to provide master keys to law enforcement personnel.

You can also thank PGP for aiding the cause of democracy by giving some measure of security to freedom-loving dissidents all over the planet.

I'm sure you were going to mention that in your next post on the subject...
