our military budget INCREASED every year under Clinton. Aside from uw's hatred of Clinton, why do you feel that we were so "weak"? (I don't think that the thousands of bombed people of Iraq perceived our military as "weak"). look at this link...and consider the following relative date with our troop strength figures. the invasion of Kuwait and our response was august 1990. this old soldier is still waiting for clinton's response to the bombing of our Marines...the refusal of saddam to cooperate with weapons inspectors...the bombing of two of our embassies...and the bombing of one of our ships...all of which happened on his watch. ya! let's just keep doing nothing, stick our head in a hole...coming up only for a nice memorial service for our dead...and hope they will stop bombing us soon. note that clinton dragged our troop strength down to 1950 levels and below. you must have been getting all the clinton defense money for your veteran patients. everyone knows how expensive those VA hospitals that take care of our disabled vets are. web1.whs.osd.mil

INCREASED!!!...oh really!!! here are a few of the years in actual dollars... 96...253 billion 97...258 billion 98...251 billion 99...252 billion i can also point out the clinton 92 and 93 defense budgets contained huge sums hidden in them for domestic rather than defense programs...using the budget enforcement act, OMB later corrected the numbers but clinton still got credit for a healthy but phony defense budget both of those years. the link below will provide a clear graph of the clinton defense budgets in constant dollars. couple it with the manpower graph in my previous post and you will have a much more accurate picture of the truth than whatever your sources are providing... d-n-i.net unclewest
