The revelations come after Tuesday's terror attacks in which hijacked planes were used as flying bombs to hit the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon near Washington, killing thousands. Some of those believed to have piloted those planes are said to have taken flying lessons in Florida. Capt. Rassoul Barwaz, who did not use his family name, told the newspaper, "the Taliban forced him to train a number of young Arab, Afghan and Pakistani men who fight within the ranks of the movement." The pilot said he worked for Ariana, Afghanistan's national airline. He said the Taliban regime forced him to train 14 "Muslim radicals" to fly civilian planes, including some made by Boeing, in camps inside Afghanistan. He said the training included "theoretical lessons on ground training before they were taken to a military airport near the city of Bamian." The newspaper said the men were given "practical airport training" by a Captain Faid, whose first name was not used, and retired Pakistani Gen. Islam Khan. The report said seven members of the team "had complete command of the English language and translated during their training some books and special pamphlets related to flying into languages used in Afghanistan," including Farsi. Barwaz said some in the group, which left Afghanistan a year, carried European passports. " Regards, Don
