I understand the point you are making. WW1, WW2, etc.

However, AT THE PRESENT TIME anybody,anywhere in the world
could participate in this discussion, by virtue of the
Internet. They could even be in Iraq or Afghanistan!

And yes, I do understand that the US Defence Department
via DARPA funded the research that created Internet I.
And I appreciate that this gives greater freedom of communication by far, than was previously available.
