You still don't get it, it's not about how we disagree, but how we agree. We can agree to listen with respect and thoughtfulness to opinions thoughtfully stated. We can try to put ourselves in the other guy's shoes and understand how he came to his conclusion even though we don't agree with it.

How we choose to disagree does determine the longevity of a society. If we don't disagree with our own countrymen respectfully, how can the rest of the world expect us to respect them?

>listen<< - ??? you mean obey??, as in 'control'?? Obviously most on the board HEAR you, but we don't have to listen or agree!

lis·ten ( l¹sā€œā€¦n) v. intr. lis·tened lis·ten·ing lis·tens 1. To make an effort to hear something: listen to the radio; listening for the bell. 2. To pay attention; heed: ā€œ She encouraged me to listen carefully to what country people called mother wit ā€ Maya Angelou

From the American Heritage Dictionary.

I meant listen, not obey, not control, not hear, LISTEN.

P.S. Sorry about the red, I did a cut and paste and don't know where the ascii is buried.
