But mike- I am deeply sympathetic...believe me, I am....but as a country, if we do the wrong thing, we could bring a full scale World War here. No one wins that. We need to win this war.

This was one well-coordinated attack. But only one. It is very unfortunate that it happens anywhere in the country, let alone in such a highly populated, and important center as New York.

From purely strategic terms (believe me, I am not trying to be flippant here, but our military leaders are paid to think in these terms), this was a huge wake-up call, but not a severe defeat of our capability to defeat the enemy.

Quite honestly, I am very worried if even the 1/4 of the country believes as you do. If so, we are woefully ill-prepared for what may occur over the next few year(s). We need to think about the entire country here. Your children, my children, future generations...

Fighting is fine, but fighting windmills is not why our folks went to war or died in the war.

The way of life you hold dear utterly depends on us not become barbarians or just throwing lives at a lost cause.

Besides, as has been pointed out more than once, it is very doubtful you could occupy Iraq without starting a regional conflict for which there is no acceptable outcome. If you think American can go to war with the world, then I think you are wildly overestimating the might of your country and the resolve of your allies and/or underestimating your enemy and the consequences of such an action.

Let's concentrate on what is actually realistic.
